Since 2018, you can borrow a maximum of 100% of the value of your house. This means that you will have to pay all additional costs from your own money. These costs consist of the acquisition and financing costs and are often referred to as the buyer’s costs. The acquisition costs consist of possible transfer tax, possible purchasing agent costs and the costs of the deed of transfer. The financing costs may consist of, among other things, a valuation report, National Mortgage Guarantee provision, construction report and a mortgage advisor costs.

The mortgage interest deduction is a scheme created by the Dutch government to encourage the purchase of a house. You will receive part of the mortgage interest you pay back from the tax authorities. How much that is depends very much on your personal situation.
